Virgin Atlantic posters were good fun to write. Briefs don’t get much more singled minded than this.
VW TIGUAN - AT HOME IN THE CITY
Reflections of a city that look like mud splashes. Quite a tricky brief for the retoucher.
THE SHOREDITCH SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
I started up a short film festival in east London and wrote the ads for it too. They were all made for next to nothing, and were great fun to do.
A couple of print ads I'm proud of for The Guardian newspaper.
This first one plays on a British joke that people from Liverpool steal the wheels from cars and prop them up on bricks. So we wondered what would happen if their football fans went to Italy.
And this ad parodies animal wall charts that you get in British schools.
THE MIGRAINE TRUST
This idea came from a real life sufferer’s description of a migraine. She said it’s like having your head crushed in a vice. Nasty stuff.
These are some of the first print ads that I wrote. Seems quite rare you get a headline brief now.
